DIGITAL IDENTITY / WEB DESIGN

STUDIO PROJECT

Sotobosque

A conceptual nursery of indoor plants with distinctive forms. Sotobosque pairs a thoughtful selection with understandable information: botanical names, dimensions and growing conditions sit beside each specimen, without turning every plant into an isolated decorative object.

An independent AsturaWeb exploration. Digital experience design, rather than a client commission.

01 — The nursery in context: plant density, light and everyday work.WEBSITE DESIGN

01 / THE CONTEXT

Choosing a plant begins with knowing your space.

Visitors may recognise a leaf without knowing what it needs. The project responds with a catalogue available on the first screen. The identity avoids both large garden-centre promotions and the distance of a boutique that displays plants without explaining how to choose.

  • Catalogue available from the first screen
  • Filters for conditions and size, not only appearance
  • Specimen and growing requirements on the same page

The artwork keeps its original language. The case study follows your chosen AsturaWeb language.

02 / THE CHALLENGE

A plant’s shape is not enough to make a decision. Light, size and attention requirements needed to appear without overwhelming beginners. It was also important to distinguish atmosphere photographs from specimen views: an image of a greenhouse does not describe the plant being selected.

THE IDEA

Botanical white, aubergine and sage build a catalogue hierarchy. A compact header leaves room for products; breadcrumbs locate the visit. Photographic proportions vary in an organised way, while botanical names retain a useful size and an informative purpose.

02 — Leaf structure: veins, surface and light.WEBSITE DESIGN

03 / BEYOND THE HOMEPAGE

A complete system,
beyond the first screen.

Side filters combine light, care, size and demonstration availability. The Anthurium clarinervium page brings together an image, height range, specimen choice and four growing-information blocks. Guidance stays practical and cautious: no health promises, improvised toxicity statements or rarity claims. An editorial strip introduces the nursery without pushing the selection aside.

THE PROJECT’S VISUAL LANGUAGE

Character, with purpose.

Colour & material

Aubergine distinguishes the system from conventional commercial green. Sage guides decisions and the light background reveals leaf edges, veins and volume.

Typography & hierarchy

A functional sans distinguishes botanical name, price and conditions. Annotations work as catalogue labels rather than turning scientific names into slogans.

Imagery & motion

The greenhouse provides context and foliage detail reveals structure. Interfaces distinguish atmosphere images from illustrative concept specimens.

04 / RESPONSIVE & INTERACTION

Another screen.
The same intention.

Categories retain context and active filters appear before the grid. On mobile, a dedicated filter control replaces a narrow sidebar. The second screen orders specimen, dimensions and needs in a vertical sequence, with the demonstration price near the action.

Development, integrations and production validation belong to a later phase, defined around the actual scope.

05 / TECHNICAL DIRECTION

Designed with
production in mind.

Conceptual visual study: photographs and interface images generated and selected for the project. The depicted websites are not connected to live services.

Conceptual catalogue presented as interface images. Species, prices and availability illustrate a journey rather than the inventory of a real nursery. No orders are processed and no health properties are attributed to plants.

  • Art direction
  • Interface design
  • Responsive WebP
  • Semantic HTML, keyboard access and contrast
  • Responsive images and progressive loading
  • Indexable content and SEO structure

Hosting, consent-based measurement and structured data would be defined around verified information and practical needs.
